They warmly greeted, and then served some of the best smoked and fried food. Brisket, chicken wings, chill, hush puppies, Mac n cheese, banana pudding, pork rinds (skins) and this lemonade with basil and sweet tea chicken
Hands down one of the best in Birmingham! The food was delicious - we had the smoked chicken sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and the smoked wings. We also really enjoyed the mint tea, and the staff were very friendly!
Absolutely delicious!!!! My mother and I had spent the morning at a classical concert, and on our way back to the car, we could smell the promise of a scrumptious meal. Arriving at Saw’s, we found it very busy, but luckily, we arrived in time to snag an empty seat. The food was excellent. I highly recommend if you ever find yourself in the area, check this place out!
We ate lunch here during a quick trip to Birmingham. I am so glad we did! The whole experience was awesome. Great customer service, great atmosphere. ..and the food...OMG. We had the triple decker club, brisket sandwich, fries, baked beans and potato salad. They brought us a sample of the mac and cheese as well. Everything was absolutely delicious but those baked beans, best I've ever had! Oh we tried the smoked sausage hushpuppies with pepper jelly too! So good! If we are ever in the area again we will definitely eat here again!
So, I was waiting for a family member to have surgery at UAB Highlands and decided to take the short walk down to Saw's BBQ. (2 blocks away) Just walking up, it had a very established vibe, and the inside of the restaurant felt the same. Upon entering, I was greeted and shown a menu that I posted. I always feel like a great BBQ restaurant can be judged by its Brisket, so I decided to order the Brisket sandwich with a side of fries and a tea. The cost was 21. The sandwich comes with grilled onions, pickles, and a horseradish sauce, and the lady who brought it recommended their BBQ sauce as well. Let just say that I made an excellent choice and will be back to order something else on the menu. But then again, I may just have to order that sandwich again.
Saw’s BBQ is one of the best BBQ joints I have ever been to. Its decor may fool you. It’s not posh or charming. It is a true BBQ joint, where all the love and the very soul of the owners is invested in the quality of the food! lf you ever watched House of Cards, it’s like the old BBQ restaurant the president would sneak off to. If you are ever in the Birmingham area, stop by. You won’t be disappointed. The management makes sure you are happy and satisfied! Don’t forget to get some sweet tea and banana pudding!
The smoked chicken meal was stellar! The meat was moist and tender. The red and white sauce were complementary and delicious! The cheese grits were smooth and tasty. I was quite pleased and impressed!
If I could give this place 10 stars I would! It’s very casual and cozy inside, and the main guy at the counter was very kind and accommodating. We were served within 10 minutes and the food was out of this world. Heard another customer say this place had the best chicken sandwich they’ve ever had, and I can say that about my collards as well. If you’re in Birmingham this place is a must-try!
